Sala s. Giustina-Roana-literature and art: paintings that start from a book and books that feed Pictures-From a tapestry cycle the text says: Isaac Tam-sounds: Chiara Fridge, Piano-Wednesday, 30 July

Culture & music also deals with art, literature, related in the cycle: "between words and colours-return": two meetings that occur at the same time as reading music, moments of in-depth, but also as opportunities to cast an eye toward the creative processes that intersect combining art and literature. The two narratives will investigate the genesis of works that come moving his first steps from an art "other" along thin boundaries separating – or join – the figurative art and writing.

The first event, Wednesday, July 30 at 17.30 in s. Giustina in Roana, will focus on a contemporary text, the historical novel"the Lady and the Unicorn" of American novelist Tracy Chevalier, known to the worldwide audience for the novel "the girl with a Pearl Earring".

"The Lady and the Unicorn" takes us back to a period that is between the late 15th and early 16th centuries and vicissitudes that branch out from a cycle of tapestries commissioned by the wealthy Jean painter Nicolas Views and a Flemish weavers.

In addition to reading some excerpts and piano music, the meeting will highlight the creative process that underlies the text. Tracy Chevalier, it constructs a fictional story from a real object, a cycle of tapestries that bears the same title of the novel and is still preserved at the National Museum of the middle ages in Paris.

Starting from six tapestries (five of which are devoted to the senses, while A Mon Seul Désir can be seen as the beginning or the end of the cycle), the writer manages to weave a plot turn that oscillates between Paris and la bottega di George de la Chapelle, working on what the images depicting the Lady and the Unicorn tell and what not to sayleaving the historical imagination and reconstruction the margin to transfer the fruit to a figurative art in the pages of a book.

The Narrator will be that ofactor Isaac Tam, while the sounds that accompany the story will be entrusted to the pianist Chiara Fridge.

The second meeting, Wednesday, 6 August at 17.30 at the Sala s. Giustina di Roana, will focus on Ovid's metamorphosis. Le Metamorfosi give us the opportunity to investigate the reverse movement, what from the pages of a Latin author, through translations and medieval and Renaissance, revisions up to paintings by artists such as Tintoretto, Giulio Romano and Giambattista Tiepolo.
