From 20 July to 4 August 2024, the Cineghel di Gallio will host the Gallio Film Festival, an event dedicated to the first works of Italian and, recently, also international directors.
This festival represents a valuable showcase for young emerging authors who wish to present their first feature films to a wide audience, offering a unique platform for films that often do not find space in traditional cinemas.
The Gallio Film Festival was born with the aim of enhancing and supporting emerging talent in the film scene. With a selection that includes not only fiction works, but also documentaries and films that explore current social issues such as youth issues, the environment, work and issues of international importance, the festival aims to be a reference point for new filmmakers.
The competition is reserved for those who are entering the world of feature films for the first time, trying to offer them a significant launching pad.
In addition to Italian productions, the festival has broadened its horizons to include a section dedicated to international first and second films, promoting a cinema that reflects the various facets of contemporary life and that can be a place of confrontation and cultural exchange.
With a program that ranges from intimate stories to those of great social impact, the Gallio Film Festival of Italian Cinema First Works continues to be not only a showcase for new cinema, but also a meeting place for enthusiasts, critics and professionals in the sector, all united by the passion for cinema and for the new voices it can express.

THE GALLIO FILM FESTIVAL 2024 PROGRAM
The first week of screenings takes place from Saturday 20 to Saturday 27 July, with the participating films in competition, evaluated by a jury of experts.
The second week from Sunday 28 July to Sunday 4 August. And it is precisely in this second week that the most important novelty of this year takes shape: an entire section dedicated to International First and Second Works entitled "The cinema of women" in which women's cinema, women directors, films that deal with themes that revolve around the world of women are enhanced.
So here are the works of the Norwegian Margreth Olin, the French Amandine Fredon and Marie Amachoukeli, the Russian-Algerian Mounia Meddour, the Spanish Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren, the Brazilian Nara Normande, the Mongolian Zoljagat Purevdash.
But even in the first week there will be the presence of female cinema with the directors in competition Martina De Polo, Micaela Ramazzotti, Emilia Mazzacurati, Lyda Patitucci, Simona Cornacchia and Anna Russo. In their films, as well as in animated films and documentaries, alongside issues relating to gender differences, equality between men and women and human rights, there are the themes of custody, care, transmission of knowledge and sharing of affections between different generations of women.
In the same poster of the festival it was intended to represent the figure of an adult woman who protects a child from the looming ogre.
For the rest, the Gallio Film Festival presents itself with the usual format, full of interesting and surprising First Works, with different themes dealt with in the films (topics of everyday life , youth problems, environment, work) ranging between different contexts and situations .
A jury of professionals in the sector – directors, writers, personalities of Italian culture – will award, as usual, several prizes: "Ermanno Olmi" to the best film, "Emidio Greco" special grand prize, best actress/actor, best director, best screenplay, audience award and youth jury prize.
Admission to the viewing of the films (with afternoon and evening programming) is free, without the cost of the entrance ticket.
