International Wood Sculpture Competition organized by the Municipality of Asiago, 22-27 August 2021
From 22 to 27 August 2021 the historic center of Asiago will host the 39th edition of the International Competition of Outdoor Wood Carvings,a beautiful event dedicated tothe art of wood carving that for many years has been exciting plateaus and tourists from all over Italy (and beyond).
This edition will have a precise and very heartfelt theme on the Plateau: the CENTENARY OF THE BIRTH OF MARIO RIGONI STERN,the famous highland writer born in Asiago on November 1, 
1921.
The competition will be attended by several artists, Italian and foreign,who will create their own sculpture starting from a wooden trunk or a panel, under the watchful eye of passers-by in the main streets and squares of the town and the historic center.
Visitors will have the opportunity to contemplate the wise art of the sculptors and admire the works take shape slowly, spending pleasant days immersed in the atmosphere imbued with art of the center of Asiago.
It should be noted that the Competition will always be made according to the government directives regarding the containment of the health emergency from Covid 19.
Friday, August 27th will be held the awards, at 16.00,at the gardens of Piazza Carli with the awarding of the Jury Prize and the Joe Dalle Ave Award. Who knows who will be the winner!
Everyone can cast their vote and participate in the popular jury that will award the most voted sculptor the special prize Joe Dalle Ave. The vote can be carried out at the IAT in Piazza Carli until 12:00 on Friday 27 August.

REGULATIONS OF THE 39TH ASIAGO INTERNATIONAL WOOD CARVING COMPETITION, 22 - 27 AUGUST 2021
1) The Municipality of Asiago organizes the 39th International Competition of Outdoor Wood Carvings, which will take place in the pedestrian area and in the city squares from Sunday 22 to Friday 27 August 2021.
2) The sculptors will be in all 14 and the sculptor who will make the request for participation must indicate the preference between trunk or panel.
3) This year, the competition will be themed: Centenary of the birth of Mario Rigoni Stern.
4) The sculptures must be made using:
a. a trunk of Swiss pine with a height of cm. 150 and with a diameter of 40 - 50 cm provided by the organization and which must be exploited to the maximum;
b. a panel of Swiss pine cm. About 120x80x10. It is recommended in this case to have a special panel holder that cannot be requested from the organization.
Nb. There are n. 10 trunks and 4 panels for which the choice by the artist will not bind the Administration which, in the case of requests greater than the number of trunks or panels available, will be free to assign to extraction.
5) The tools for processing must be the property of the Artist.
6) Each artist will have to bring a spotlight with its extension to be able to illuminate the sculpture in the evening hours.
7) Each station can be equipped with a "self-locking" socket CEI 16 amp 2 poles + ground;
8) Also this year the extraction of the stations will be done ex officio in the days before the competition and will becommunicated to the participating sculptors before their arrival and therefore each sculptor will find already from 8.00 am on Sunday 22 August his own ready station.
9) The costs of board and lodging are borne by the Organization from 6 pm on 21 August to 6 pm on 27 August 2021.
10) The works will be owned by the artists, with the exception of the one chosen by the technical jury which will constitute the heritage of the Municipality of Asiago.
11) The winning artist will receive a prize of € 2,000.00 gross.
12) The prize of the popular jury named after Joe Dalle Ave,will be delivered to the artist most voted by citizens and tourists by means of ballots – vote to be delivered to the Tourist Information Desk of Piazza Carli by 12.00 on 27-08-2021.
13) The award consists of a silver plaque with the effigy of the Municipality of Asiago that will be delivered during the award ceremony.
14) For the full success of the event, each station must remain active for the entire period established in order to involve the citizens in the best possible way.
15) The application for registration is free and must be formalized by filling in the appropriate form, accompanied by a personal curriculum in A 4 format and 2 photos of the most significant works. The application shall entail automatic acceptance of the rules contained in this Regulation, to be sent to:

16) A commission will select the participating sculptors and the Municipality of Asiago will notify the chosen sculptors.
17) The Municipality of Asiago assumes no responsibility for damages that may be caused to people and things during processing.
The works will be gathered in the venue of the awards "Giardini di Piazza Carli" from the morning of Friday, August 27.
In order to be admitted to the final exhibition and to participate in the judgment of the competition, they must necessarily be completed by the evening of Thursday 26 August and on the morning of Friday 27 it can be used for small finishes.
