Mountain race "Strafexpedition" on the Asiago Plateau
On Sunday, August 29, 2021,with departure and arrival in the center of Asiago, the 7thStrafexpeditionwill take place, a mountain race on three routes of 20, 35 and 50 km organized by the Sportiva 7 Municipalities with Alpine Sections AsiagoPlateau, Alpine Rescue, Asiago and Roana Civil Protection, Carabinieri Association and various local volunteer groups.
The route will have a positive difference in height of 2500 meters and will lead athletes to travel the most significant places in the history of the Great War,such as Vezzena, Mandriolo, Larici, Portule, Cima 12, Ortigara, Zebio,until arrival in the central square of Asiago.
THE "REAL" STRAFEXPEDITION
Between May and June 1916 on the Vicenza highlands the Austro-Hungarian and Italian army faced each other in the largest mountain battle ever fought,officially known as the Battle of the Highlands. The Italians called it Strafexpedition,from the German punitive expedition. At the end of the battle the losses between the two armies were over 230 thousand men.
For over three years the Vicenza highlands were the scene of bloody battles,and today the remnants of that conflict are visible everywhere. Paths, stakeouts, presidios and shacks are some of the testimonies left by the Great War on the Asiago Plateau 7 Municipalities.

art. 1 Organization
The amateur sports association "Sportiva7Comuni", affiliated with A.S.I., in collaboration with the Alpine sections of the Asiago Plateau, organizes the sixth edition of the StrafeXpedition, a race in nature that will take place on Sunday, August 29, 2021.
art. 2 – Acceptance of the Regulation
The StrafeXpedition will take place in accordance with these regulations, and any changes and notices that will be published on the official website and on the Facebook page strafexpedition.
Participation in StrafeXpedition shall entail acceptance by registered competitors in all its parts and without reservation of this Regulation.
Competitors are also required to comply with the highway code, in particular in those sections where the route crosses the ordinary road, which will not be closed to vehicular traffic.
By registering, each competitor undertakes to comply with this regulation and frees the organizers from any civil or criminal liability for any accident or accident, for damage to persons or things derived from or caused by him, that may occur during the event.
Art. 3 – Proof
Walking in a natural environment, which runs through paths, mule tracks and carts paths of the Asiago Plateau. The track takes place on paths at an altitude of between 1000 and 2300 m. On the same track there will be three tests:
– a long route of about 50 km with a positive difference in height of about 2400 meters, starting at 7.00 am on 30.08.2020 from Asiago (Vi).
– average route of about 35 km with a positive difference in height of about 1400 meters, departure at 7.00 am on 30.08.2020 from Asiago (Vi).
– short route of about 21 km with a positive difference in height of about 1000 meters, starting at 9.00 am on 30.08.2020 from Asiago (Vi).
art. 4 Participation
The race is open to all persons, men and women, who have reached the age of 18 in the year of the race, holding a medical sports certificate of fitness for competitive athletics activities (D.M. 18.02.1982 tab.B) valid on the date of the race regardless of their membership in sports clubs or federations and in possession of one of the following requirements that must be declared at the time of registration :
– A.S.I Members of Italian Sports and Social Associations;
– F.I.D.A.L. Italian Athletics Federation;
– free athletes not registered.
There are no restrictions on the acceptance of competitors in relation to their technical skills, however since the route includes numerous passages at high altitude and the conditions can be very difficult (wind, cold, rain or snow), careful training, a good hiking experience and a real capacity for personal autonomy are indispensable. Before registering for the StrafeXpedition it is therefore strongly recommended to have already participated in other trail races in the Alpine environment.
art. 5 Semi-self-sufficiency
The race is in semi-self-sufficiency in water and food. Refreshment places will be provided with food and drinking water. Each runner must ensure that, on departure from each refreshment point, he has the minimum amount of water provided as a mandatory material and the sufficient food reserve that will be necessary for him to arrive at the next refreshment place. Personal assistance along the way is prohibited. Personal assistance is allowed only in the special spaces reserved by the organization near the refreshments. It is forbidden to be accompanied on the route by another person who is not regularly enrolled.
art. 6 How to register
Registrations will be closed upon reaching 700 total subscribers between long, medium and short distance.
Registrations must be made exclusively online, with payment by credit card, through the appropriate link on the official website of the which refers to the registration manager.
In the event that the registered competitor does not provide the sports medical certificate, the bib cannot be delivered and the competitor cannot take part in the race, without the right to any refund of the registration fee.
art. 7 Registration fees

art. 8 Refund of registration fees
In case of renunciation of participation, it is planned to transfer the bib to another competitor or transfer the registration to the next edition no later than 01/08/2020
art. 9 Mandatory material
With the registration each runner signs the commitment to bring with him all the mandatory material listed below throughout the race, on pain of disqualification. The mandatory material can be checked at the collection of the bib, at departure or in surprise positions along the route and on arrival.
– water bottle or other container with a minimum of one liter of water,
– working front lamp (only for 50K)
– survival thermal cloth,
– whistle,
– windbreaker to withstand bad weather conditions in the mountains
– long-sleeved knit,
Highly recommended material
– trail running shoes,
– mobile phone with the organization's rescue number stored
– route map published on the race website,
– essential warm clothing in case of expected cold weather,
– adhesive elastic band suitable for bandaging or tearing.
art. 10 Bibs
The bib cannot be delivered without a copy of the medical certificate.
The bib must be carried on the chest or belly and always be made visible in its entirety throughout the race. It must therefore be placed on top of all clothing and in no case fixed elsewhere.
art. 11 Safety and medical assistance.
A rescue call post is established at the refreshments. These seats are connected by radio or telephone with the race direction. Ambulances, Red Cross, Carabinieri, Alpine Rescue and doctors will be present on the territory.
The emergency posts are intended to provide assistance to all persons in danger by the organization's own resources or through affiliated bodies. Official doctors are empowered to suspend competitors deemed unfit to continue the race. Rescuers are empowered to evacuate runners deemed to be in danger by all means of their convenience.
In case of need, for reasons that are in the interest of the person rescued, only and exclusively in the opinion of the organization, the official rescue will be appealed, which will take over the management of the operations and will put in place all appropriate means, including the helicopter. Any costs arising from the use of these exceptional means will be borne by the person rescued in accordance with the rules in force.
A runner who appeals to a doctor or rescuer immediately submits to his authority and undertakes to respect his decisions.
art. 12 Checkpoint and refuelling stations.
Competitors are surveyed at all checkpoints or refreshments. Only runners carrying clearly visible bibs have access to refueling places.
On the the route map will be published that will identify refreshments and rescue points. "Flying" checkpoints will be located in other places outside the rescue and refreshment places. Their location will not be communicated by the organization.
art. 13 Maximum authorized time and hourly barriers.
The maximum time of the long test is set at 11 hours. The maximum time of the average test is set at 11 hours. The short test does not provide any maximum time.
These time barriers are calculated to allow participants to reach arrival at the maximum time imposed, while still making any rest stops. In order to be allowed to continue the test, competitors must leave the control post before the set time limit.
Otherwise they will be disqualified, and the bib withdrawn. The competitor who wants to continue without a bib, out of the race, will do so assuming all responsibility for the consequences that could result.
In case of bad weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organization reserves the right to suspend the current test, delay the start, vary the route, change the time barriers or cancel the race, without any prior notice.
art. 14 Dropouts and returns.
In case of abandonment of the race along the route, the competitor is obliged to communicate his abandonment by registering as having registered as withdrawn in the radio seat of the nearest control point; the organization will take charge of its return from the control post itself to the Base of Asiago (Vi); the return of withdrawals outside checkpoints is not guaranteed unless in the event of an accident. In case of failure to notify a withdrawal and the consequent start of the competitor's research, any resulting expenses will be charged to the competitor himself.
art. 15 Penalties – disqualifications.
Competitors not found to have even one element of their mandatory material will be immediately disqualified, with no possibility of appealing against this sanction.
art. 16 Complaints.
Only written complaints are accepted in the 30 minutes following the posted of the provisional results, with a deposit delivery of € 50.00.
art. 17 Jury.
The jury consists of:
– by the race director,
– by the route director,
– by the safety officer,
– by the persons of the organization who may be involved and summoned by the race director.
The jury is empowered to deliberate in a time compatible with the obligations of the race on all disputes or disqualifications that occurred during the race. The decisions taken are without appeal.
art. 18 Route or time barrier changes – Cancellation of the ride.
The organization reserves the right to change the route or location of the rescue and refreshment places at any time, without notice. In case of adverse weather conditions or for other reasons not dependent on the organization and such as to endanger the safety of competitors, the departure can be postponed or canceled, the route can be modified and reduced, the ride can be stopped at any point on the track.
The aforementioned changes will be taken by the Jury, also after hearing the opinion of the safety officers and the medical team.
The modification, suspension or cancellation of the ride will not entitle competitors to any refund of the registration fee.
Art. 19 Route map.
The topographic map of the route, in its most up-to-date edition, will be available on the official website of the . Competitors are invited to download and print it. It will contain practical information such as the closing times of checkpoints and the description of the route. Each route card update will be published on the official website . Copy of the route card will be delivered with bibs to competitors.
art. 20 Insurance.
The organization signs liability insurance throughout the trial period. Participation takes place under the full responsibility of the competitors, who waive any appeal against the organizers in case of damage and further consequences that may arise as a result of the race. At the time of registration, the runner must sign a discharge of responsibility.
art. 21 Leaderboards and prizes.
Only competitors who reach the Asiago finish line and who register on arrival will be included in the ranking.
An absolute general classification of men and women will be drawn up for all three tests. The first five absolute men's finishers and the top five absolute female rankings of each test and the top five male over-50s and the top five women's over-50s in each test will be awarded with products.
art. 22 Image rights.
Each competitor expressly waives the rights to the image during the trial as well as waives any appeal against the organization, and its authorized partners, for the use made of its image.
