Art Tuesdays Roana: Antonello da Messina, a "Dutch in Venice"; the July 23

Culture & music presentsagain this year, the cycle of "the Tuesday of art"-dedicated to the painting of the 15th century. In this first meeting, which will take place Tuesday, July 23, at 17.30 hours in Hall s. Giustina in Roana, will present the work of one of the most important toItalian artists of the 15th century.

According to the dates of birth and death of Antonello (1429-1479 Messina), do not imagine the importance which this painter took to Italian art of the 15th century. Has been, in fact, in some of the most important Italian artistic cities, such as Naples, Rome, Florence and Venice, revealing a great capacity to make its various novelty art.

He could meet some important painters of his time such as Piero della Francesca, that time has passed to Antonello on painting and perspective. But also important was his link with the World of Flemish painting known in Naples, around 1450, when Elijah was able to get in touch with the Royal Collections of Dutch painting and Provence and in particular with the style and technique of the Flemish master Jan Van Eyck. This allowed him to know and experience the oil paint, and then sending it to Venice where he arrived later , bringing his new technical knowledge and perspective. A valuable comparison with the Venetian painting of the 15th century, especially that of Giovanni Bellini, which Antonello sparked extraordinary works.

During this meeting, in the afternoon you will see the most important works of this master, and among them some of his finest masterpieces -in particular portraits and altarpieces such as "St. Jerome in his study", the "San Cassiano altarpiece" or the "Salvator Mundi".
The meetings will be held, as usual, by Prof. David Apolloni, and accompanied by interludes of live music.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 30 and August 6, s. Giutina Room at 17.30 hours, Tuesday, August 13 in the parish church of Roana at 21.00 hours.
