Black and white notes "how I won the war" by b. Keaton. Screening of the silent film with live music: M° Alberto Alassio, piano

"Notes in black and white" is a small review of silent movies born from the collaboration between Artemusica culture and the cultural association Gallium Film Festival.

The intention is to propose to the public, accustomed to the special effects, the magic of black and white film, devoid of sound but accompanied by music performed live. In this special date, scheduled at 21.00 on Saturday 20 March at the Cinema Teatro Palladium of Cesuna, will screen the film "How I won the war" by b. Keaton

How I won the war (The General) is a 1926 film by Buster Keaton. Is the story of a boy during the American civil war, although not even drafted, to save his girl manages to dismiss an entire enemy army.

In 1989 was inserted between the films preserved in the National Film Registry at the library of Congress of the United States.  In 2007 the American Film Institute has entered the 18th place ranking of the 100 best American films of all time.

The film is considered one of the best achievements of Buster Keaton, where fully unfolds the precision of comic keatoniano mechanism, based on a continuous game of logic, where every sense is overthrown continually, in a daring game for your eyes and your mind: what is threatening become a help, what seems easy is extremely difficult and impossible things are exceeded without effort.

Notable is the voltage generated by the train chases, carried out without the use of models, even in the scene where a locomotive ends in a river.

Keaton's impassive mask becomes a symbol of the individual simple and innocent, living historical facts appearing not to notice ever of what happens around him. The war is described without drama and without tragic sense, as a swirl useless.

The musical accompaniment is entrusted to the creativity of Alberto Alassio on the piano.

Alassio Albert studied piano and composition at the Conservatory "g. Verdi" in Turin and attended now the MA in Composition at the same Institute. Always had a passion for many different styles of music, a piece for cello solo was premiered at the composition competition "notes found" of Avellino while a song for piano was selected and performed at the Festival Fireplace against the current 2013 "Vandalism". He has also worked in the staging of several theatrical plays as a performer and as a composer. Often collaborates with singers as accompanist.

The entrance has a cost of 5 €
