Nicolaus Copernicus

He was a Polish astronomer famous for bringing to the heliocentric theory.
He was also a Canon, a lawyer, a Governor, an astrologer and a doctor. A historical-geographical debate, today considered unserious, resulted in a bitter dispute about his nationality. Copernicus is generally considered a Polish descending from a family of German origin.
His theory --which suggests the Sun at the center of the orbits of the planets in the solar system components -resumes of Greek Aristarchus of Samos ofheliocentrism, the theory as opposed to geocentrism, which wanted the Earth to the center of the system. About her is not the idea, already expressed by the Greeks, but his rigorous proof by means of mathematical character.

Giovanni Bignami

It is known in international level for over twenty years of work that led to the identification and understanding of Geminga, the first neutron star without radio emission. From 1970 to 1990 he was a researcher at the NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL. In 1990 he was appointed Professor of General Physics at the University of Cassino. In 1997 he was appointed Professor of Astronomy at the University of Pavia. From 2003 to 2006 he was Director of the Centre d'Etude Spatiale des Rayonnements in Toulouse, one of France's most important space. He was called to be part of the Research Assessment Committee of the French space agency (CNES). From January 2004 to January 2007, he was President of the Space Science Advisory Committee (SAC) of the European Space Agency, which drafted the document to the Agency's scientific programming, Cosmic Vision 2015-2025.
