Celebration of Madonna della Salute to Conco from 21 to November 24, 2013

Sunday 24 November at Fontanelle di Conco you will celebrate Madonna della Salute with several initiatives, including a procession.

Also, Thursday, 21 and Friday, 22 November will be offered two evenings in preparing celebrations Sunday.

THE MADONNA DELLA SALUTE

The occurrence originated from the great bubonic plague epidemic that struck across North Italy between 1630 and 1631. This is the same epidemic described by Alessandro Manzoni in I promessi sposi.

In the culminating moment of the epidemic, in the absence of other solutions, the Government of the Republic organized a procession of prayer to our Lady, in which he participated for three days and three nights the whole surviving population. The October 22, 1630 the doge vowed to erect a solemn votive Temple especially grandiose and solemn if the city had survived the disease.

A few weeks after the procession, the epidemic was an abrupt slowdown to first then slowly regress until becoming extinct in November 1631. The final budget was estimated at nearly 47,000 deaths in single territory citizen (over a quarter of the population) and almost 100,000 in the Reign. The Government then decreed to repeat every year, as a sign of gratitude,a procession in honor of the Madonna called since then of "health".

• 14.30 Hours Celebration of the word and the administration of the sacrament of anointing with comfort. After solemn procession with the statue of the madonna. The procession will be accompanied by complex band "Attilio Muhammed" di Fontanelle. The term volunteer groups of Fontanelle prepare mulled wine, hot chocolate, cakes and Brown.
