Dixieland Jass Band Centennial Concert in Piazza Risorgimento II to Asiago, 13 July
Saturday 13 July at 18.00 hours in Piazza Risorgimento II of Asiago, svolegerà the concert of Mestrino Dixieland Jass Band, donated by the Rotary Club Padova.
Mestrino Dixieland Jass Band
Mestrino Dixieland Jass Band is a section of Brighton Philharmonic Society, an organization that operates continuously for over a century in musical activities with the scuole of music, and the Organization of concerts.
In 2010 the Philharmonic Society gives rise to an initiative that aims to be in preparation for the 110th(!) anniversary of their foundation that is celebrated in 2012, having been founded just in 1902 (note that the term "company" at the time it was what today is referred to as "the Association").
Which therefore best tribute to this tradition if they don't bring back one of the genres that at that time were the heyday? And here is the idea of a formation that is called "Dixieland Jass Band Mestre, with original term "jass", just as it was used by the first band, and that only later was changed into jazz.
And how not to repeat, with the same training, that part of Italian music that moved its first steps in "swing", a term the regime unpopular but widely interpreted by Italian musicians who, in their compositions and interpretations, little or Nothing had to envy the American counterparts?
The choice of repertoire draws on the vast American production and-as said-the less wide but equally valid Italian music, starting from the beginning of the ' 900 up to the fateful year 1940.
