Although the Plateau is not one of the most famous fossil zones in the world, there have been some discoveries of considerable scientific importance, such as crocodile remains and one of the most famous marine reptiles of all time, the Plesiosaur. We will focus on the sedimentary rocks and in particular on the "ammonitic red" (or pink marble of Asiago), deposited as mud on the seabed about 150 million years ago and to observe the remains of the animals that inhabited this prehistoric sea.
But it's not just fossils. The route will wind through some of the quarries of the Plateau, the beech forests, the huts, the pastures and the alpine pools to recognize the traces of wild animals, the plants and flowers of the territory.
Those who want can then try to create a fossil to understand the process....testing it on their own hands!
The route does not present any particular technical difficulties, it is suitable for everyone and develops between dirt roads, mountain trails and some asphalt road, rarely busy. The climb is less than 200 m, there are no exposed sections.
