The interesting events of the exhibition "Aperitif with the Author" continue, organized as every summer by the Library Giunti at the Point of Asiago.

On Sunday, August 25, 2019,the lively centre of The Pianese will welcome the journalist Ferruccio De Bortoli,who will be in Asiago for the presentation of his new book "Wewillsave".

The meeting will be held at the Central Stage located in Piazza II Risorgimento,starting at 5.30pm. It will be Piero Brazzale who will moderate the meeting.

In case of bad weather the meeting will be held at the Millepini Theatre

WE'RE GOING TO SAVE OURSELVES

Are we going to save ourselves? Or is Italy in danger of falling into a new financial crisis, into the abyss of recession? Answering these questions, Ferruccio de Bortoli talks about the costs of the crazy populist drift we are experiencing and highlights the faults and ambiguities of the elites, the ruling class, the media. Yet the country is better than the image that projects its government: it has a great social capital, a widespread volunteering, a lot of excellence. This book is also a journey into the often hidden virtues of Italy, because a collection is possible, but it depends on each of us. In order to do this, we must rediscover a new sense of legality and have greater respect for common goods; we need more civic education, more to bring back to schools, and more scientific culture; it is necessary to fight for true gender equality and to give more space to young people in a society that is too old and turned in on itself. The future must be conquered, not feared, and we must never lose the memory of the years when we were poorer and without democracy. That's the only way we're going to save ourselves. FERRUCCIO DE BORTOLI

Ferruccio de Bortoli is an Italian journalist, twice editor of Corriere della Sera, from 1997 to 2003 and from 2009 to 2015.
He was also director of the Sole 24 Ore from 2005 to 2009.

Since 2015 he has been president of the Vidas Association in Milan. He is currently president of the Longanesi publishing house.
