Traditional fiera franca and almond and tripe Festival in Santa Caterina di Lusiana, Asiago plateau

In honor of the celebrations for the patron Saint Catherine of Alexandria, the weekend of 25 and 26 November 2017 in the homonymous village of Lusiana, on theplateau of Asiago, there will be the traditional Fiera Franca di Santa Caterina, known to many simply as the Almond Blossom Festival and Tripe.

From early morning in the streets and squares seem to relive the atmosphere of theancient fair: banks and merchants, local produce, meats and cheeses, agricultural machinery and the main product of the fair, the Almond, very good to keep and give away for Christmas! The food stand will serve, hot and steaming, the typical dish of "tripe" or good minestrone.

The old cattle fair has become over time a traditional festival, which attracts many people from the Plains andPlateau, offering in addition to the typical products also many fun activities for adults and children as creative workshops, shows, live music, exhibitions and the Palio of Piana, arrived this year in its 7th Edition.

MANDORLATO

The tradition of Almond in s. Caterina is lost in time, between historical reality and legend that once again seems to tie the fair to the history of the Serenissima.
This historic boutique Samuele Romanin on "documented history of Venice 1853-1861" wrote "this delicacy, then, was already known and appreciated back in the days when the Serenissima Republic reigned supreme over most of the veneto territory."
In fact, the Republic of Venice had 500 profitable trade with the East, from which he got sugar, spices and nuts, like walnuts and almonds, that skilled craftsmen learned to work with the honey and egg white getting the delicious sweet much liked by Venetian Doges.
