On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 8:45 p.m., the short film "A Christmas in 1945", based on the short story of the same name by Mario Rigoni Stern, will be screened at the Cineghel di Gallio.
Directed by Fabio Rosi and produced by Gallio FilmFestival and Rio Film, this film represents the first film adaptation of a story by the famous writer from Altopiana.
Defined by critics as a model of the "perfect short story", "A Christmas of 1945" is an exemplary work of Mario Rigoni Stern's poetics. The film evokes images and suggestions with almost no words, revolving around the evocation of time and the concept of forgiveness.

SYNOPSIS OF THE FILM
Asiago Plateau, Christmas 1945. The war has just ended, and the wounds are still fresh. In this context, two men, different in age, cultural background and side during the conflict, try to resume their lives with the weight of their experiences. At one time, they were like father and son, but the war separated them and erased their bond.
With Christmas suggesting the beginning of a new course, the elderly elementary school teacher and former black republican brigadier feels the need to reconcile with his faults towards the partisan, his former student. They find themselves in an old abandoned shelter, with an hourglass that once sealed their friendship. That encounter will bring back memories that time can never erase.
