FREE excursion for sustainable tourism "BARENTAL FORESTE" Futourist project, 20 July 2019
In collaboration with the Futourist project, FREEguided tours, conducted by the Plateau Guides, were organized by the City of Asiago.
On July 20, 2019 there is an excursion that will start from Asiago and with a loop ride and first reaches the clearing of the Prunno, a natural clearing where there is a hut-restaurant (equipped with children's games).
From here the route enters the woods and following a detour along the main forest road you can reach two sites of historical interest related to the allied presence during the First World War (military hospitals of Barenthal and Cemetery). Going back along the same road you will continue in the direction of Lazzaretto and the church of San Sisto. These places have a high historical and cultural value as they were formerly linked to the plague of the 1600s and later to the Great Rogation, a votive procession that is held 40 days after Easter and traces the ancient borders of Asiago for 33 km.
Continuing the route passes through the Cliffs of the Ave where you can observe typical geological formations of the Plateau such as the outcrops of ammonical red and finally return to the historic center of Asiago passing through Contrada Ave and the Museum Prisons.
EXCURSION SCHEDULE:
Meeting: Scheduled for 9 a.m. from the Bar of the Old Asiago Station, near the forecourt of the Ice Stadium of Asiago. The departure will take place directly on foot.
