Letters from the front. The correspondence of Mario Rigoni Stern and other women of the plateau by Giuseppe Mendicino-Asiago

For the aperitif with the author, organized by library Giunti al Punto di Asiago - corso IV Novembre -on the main stage will be presented the book by Don Pierantonio Gios entitled "Letters from the front. The correspondence of Mario Rigoni Stern and other women of the plateau".

The event is scheduled for August 20, 2015 at 17.30 curated by Joseph Mendicinoà and will be presented by Stefania Longhini.

The first world war, the great war, of which the one hundred years old, is still very important space in our memory. Was perhaps the most tragic of the conflicts between peoples whose still vivid memories.

The soldiers at the front, forced to fight for ideals of mad heads, in the little free time they wrote letters to their families or to his girlfriend: the war as a stimulus to Scripture, reflection and story by itself. Letters from the front, as a memory that tells the story of Italians.

DON PIERANTONIO GIOS

Don Pierantonio was born in Asiago in 1940. His passion was historical research: while engaged in teaching and institutional tasks took time, especially at night, to publish valuable contributions. With his contribution to the history of Resistance with many publications, that from the history books of parishes, document the relationship of the Church of Padua with the events of that period. A particular interest reserved to studies and research on the history ofthe Asiago plateau.

JOSEPH MAIDMENT

Giuseppe Majeed was born in Arezzo but for many years now resides in Brianza. He worked as a clerk in Agrate Brianza and Arcore. Has cared for Meridiani Montagne the collection of writings by Mario Rigoni Stern In memory (2007, ed. Domus) and the collection of texts by Massimo Mila Montagnes valdôtaines (2008, ed. Domus).

He was coauthor of secret dialogue. The Dolomites by Dino Buzzati (new 2012) and Rolly Marchi. Heart of trentino (New 2013).  In 2013 has published the publishing house Einaudi Mario Rigoni Stern's book. The courage to say no, where he collected the most significant writer interviews.

He then edited the book Letters from the front. The correspondence of Mario Rigoni Stern and other women of the plateau (modern typography), coming out these days. He writes regularly for many years (mountain, Bepi Pellegrinon) and occasionally for magazines (Meridiani Montagne, Dolomites, Alp, Finnegan, and others). Is writing the official biography of Mario Rigoni Stern, which will be published next year.
