From 20 January to 31 December 2023 the space of the canteen of the officers of Forte Corbin in Tresché Conca on the Asiago plateau will be dedicated to the photographic exhibition Sguardi della memoria di Giulio Valente, where the shot that brought the author on the podium of thec oncorso fotografico held at Forte Corbin last year will also be exhibited.
The exhibition "Sguardi della Memoria" will be open during the opening hours of Fort Corbin: Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and every day in July and August, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Memory glances
It is a historical-photographic exhibition on the theme of the Great War created in collaboration with the Historical-Cultural Association "Fronte Sud", where the shots are accompanied by historical and bibliographical notes curated by David Spiller Wassagruba.
The project, born in 2016 and completed in 2018, aims to raise awareness of the events of the Great War on the Plateau of the 7 Municipalities with 32 photographs in which the places of memory are presented in the reflection of people's eyes and historically narrated by the texts, in a fusion of contents and images really exciting.
The protagonists of the exhibition are therefore the eyes that, evoking the events of war, are organized in a precise chronological order, proposing a journey through history that starts from the eye of an elderly person to end in the eye of a child. In this way the will of the artist has found fulfillment, whose message, as he himself declares "is addressed to the younger generations, so that they can see with their own eyes what their peers of the last century have seen and experienced".
Julius Valente
Giulio Valente was born in Asiago in 1982 and has always lived in Cesuna, a hamlet of the Municipality of Roana. From an early age he nurtured an interest in photography, initially expressed in an amateurish way by capturing some particular subject or situation.
With the passage of time the passion increases and in 2013 the desire to deepen the world of photography and to compare himself with other photographers leads him to join the Photo Club "Altopiano 7 Comuni".
In 2016 he joined the Board as a director and then became Vice President, a position he still holds with dedication and enthusiasm. "Over the years I have made several photographic exhibitions, both personal and collective - he says - and I have participated in various photographic competitions in the plateau, also obtaining some respectable results.
In my career as a photographer I have pursued different genres, but currently I am trying my hand at portrait photography in its most varied shades, always trying to work on the basis of precise projects previously developed.
I am very happy to exhibit the exhibition "Looks of Memory" at Fort Corbin - he adds - because this fortress is a magnificent place that deserves to be visited and is perfect for my photographic project. I take this opportunity to publicly thank the owners for the interest they have shown in me."
