Exhibition on the theme of Nelson Mandela-From 14 July to 4 August 2018

From 14 July to 4 August 2018, at the Multipurpose room of the Teatro Eliseo di Asiago, there will be a photo exhibition "NELSON MANDELA CENTENARY-the challenge of freedom. How does a democracy".

The Show, produced by Feltrinelli bookshops with the racism is a nasty business and already being held in Italy 9 laFeltrinelli of libraries for World Day against racism (21 March 2018) and with the Embassy of South Africa at the Islamic cultural center in Rome, celebrates the figure of Nelson Mandela and tells about the difficult job of rebuilding the country after the 1994.

A path of 24 pictures taken from the book the challenge of freedom, the second part of the autobiography of Madiba published this year by Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore and wrote with Mandla Langa.

The exhibition runs through significant episodes of this story: the legendary handshake with Springbok Captain Francois Pienaar, South African rugby union – – meetings with Yasser Arafat, Bill Clinton, to get private snapshots that portray in small daily gestures.

The book begins with the words with which ended the first part of his autobiography long walk to freedom (2013)-"with freedom comes the responsibility: my long walk is not yet at the end" – and remember, starting from 1994, the years of Mandela's Presidency. The first democratically elected President in South Africa, during the five years of office he and his Government have initiated an extraordinary undertaking: transforming a nation torn by centuries of colonialism and apartheid in a genuine democracy, in which all citizens are equal before the law.
