Saturday, July 27, 2019,the exhibition"Aperitif with theAuthor", organized as every summer from the Library Joint to the Point of Asiago, gives appointment to book lovers and reading for an interesting new meeting in the heart of Asiago.

At the Central Stage located in Piazza II Risorgimento,at 5.30pm, the author Matteo Righetto will present his book "The Promised Land".
Piero Brazzalemoderated the meeting.

An opportunity to learn more about the author and his works, but also to spend a pleasant afternoon in the lively and cheerful summer atmosphere of Asiago.

THE PROMISED LAND

With this novel begins the future of Jole and Sergio, sons of Augustus and Agnese De Boer, tobacco growers in Nevada, in the Brenta Valley. Twenty years she, twelve him, after so many vicissitudes the two brothers are ready to face the greatest of challenges: to leave their own land, which has nothing more to offer, to reach the New World. An epic adventure that has in itself the enchantment and terror of so many first times: for the first time they get on the train that will take them to Genoa where, always lived among the rugged profiles of the mountains, they will see the sea - immense, scary yet familiar, friend, emblem of life and hope.
For the first time, Jole and Sergio are alone in the face of fate and she knows that - sooner or later - she will have to tell her brother about the tragic fate of her parents. In the crossing that lasts more than a month, lying on a smelly cot, while the diphtheria spreads on board and the corpses are thrown into the waves, the Jole feels the flame of hope burning in itself, fueled by the unknown beauty of the sea and a breath of from time to time she comes back to visit her, and in which she is certain to recognize the Soul of the Frontier, the universal breath that her father Augustus taught her to recognize.
With the fortitude and grace that we know, Jole, with the woods and mountains of home always in her mind and heart, faces extreme experiences that lead her, even if so young, to come to terms with crucial issues and burning topicality - the guilt of those who are cost the relationship between nostalgia and identity, the importance of cultivating patience and hope in order to invent the future and continue to live. The "Trilogy of the Fatherland", the saga of the De Boer family, concludes with this novel.
