"Happy hour with the author", in collaboration with the library reached the point, August 27, 2016
Saturday, August 27, 2016, Asiago, last appointment with the summer festival "Aperitif with author", organized in collaboration with the Library come to the point.
For the occasion, Paolo Mieli will present his book "the weapon of memory".
The meeting will begin at 17.30 hours, at the central stage of Asiago and will be an excellent opportunity to spend a summer afternoon in company, dedicated to culture.
The weapon of the memory
The honest use of memory is the most effective antidote to barbarism. And it is in every political season, anytime the cultural debate, in every period of history.
Honest use as such assumes there talk to past seeking legitimacy for the choices today. Indeed, if anything, to locate in the distant past contradictions that will help us to change what we think or to register now. Quite different (and spread, unfortunately) is the use of memory as a weapon for forcing us to return your accounts in the present. A used gun with endless manipulation mode, which produce irreparable damage almost to the historical consciousness, deforming the past, gas recollection also made collective. And that, as such, deserves to be fought. Paolo Mieli proves through centuries of history with his usual skill and passion, reconstructing small and big stories, making us look at facts apparently known with a different eye and disenchanted because "infinite are the laws that regulate the study of treason in history. But two are superior to others. The first: the winner will never be considered a traitor. The second: the treason is a matter of dates, what today is considered a betrayal, tomorrow will be held in the account of a courageous act ".
