GOAL: Fort Campo Luserna - Alpe Cimbra
Step by step, we discover the nature, traditions and events of the Great War in the winter season, but with a slightly different eye... that of Italian-speaking Austrians.
For centuries and centuries the plateau has been a territory on the border between two worlds... realities that have collided several times in history, leaving visible signs of conflicts in the landscape.
The Fort of Campo Luserna still carries on itself the shots of the Italian artillery that in a short time in the spring of 1915 threw at least 5000 shots on the structure.
The thick forest also hides other war structures, but not only ... from time to time there are silhouettes of animals and anthropomorphic figures that lead us towards the views of the Valdastico and then continuing, to the village of Luserna.
Reservations are required.
DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty 2 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging)
The route develops between mountain paths and dirt roads. The difference in height uphill is less than 250 m, there are no exposed sections.
TO TAKE WITH YOU: mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, water or hot tea for the duration of the excursion, a small snack such as dried fruit, sunglasses, cap, gloves.
COST: 15€ for the guided excursion. 5€ for children under 15 years.
Possible snowshoes and poles rental: contact the Centro Fondo Campolongo.
In case there is not enough snow we will proceed on foot without the aid of snowshoes.
MEETING POINT: 9.30 am near Luserna.
The exact place of the meeting will be communicated to the booked the day before the event based on the snow present.
