Snowshoe hike to Verena ruler of PLATEAU with Guide, January 18, 2014
From Saturday, December 7 to Sunday 23 February 2014 the Plateau Guides Association will offer numerous snowshoe in the most beautiful places of theAsiago plateau.
Saturday, January 18 the excursion to Forte Verena; the meeting point is at attached to bar of Asiago ice rink at 9.00 o'clock. You must wear Mountain boots and heavy clothing.
At the end of the excursion, prior notification, you can lunch in a restaurant/refuge nearby.
STRONG VERENA
The "ruler of the Plateau", as it was called during the great war, Italian armored military work that even today one can admire in part to 2019 m altitude above sea level on Monte Verenanamesake. From the Strong Verena May 24, 1915 departed the first Cannon which decreed the Italy's entry into the war.
After having reduced to silence opposing forts on the Austro-Hungarian border, in early June 1915 was heavily bombed. The "end" of the Ruler gave, which domino effect, disarmament of most of the Italian forts on the Austrian border.
Our excursion will take us to retrace the ancient access to the Fort, climbing gently through the lush forests of white spruce, along the snow Cave until alta cima from unchallenged panorama. We will admire the remains of the Fort's highest Plateau and landscape that still dominates a 360°, the conca di Asiago to the plain of Vezzena, Portule, the chain of Brenta andAdamello.
