Guided excursion through the Big in the Altopiano di Asiago-"SOUTH SIDE": Brits in Plateau-Plateau "Guides" from the Association in the Altopiano di Asiago and 7 Municipalities

HISTORICAL EXCURSION-special great war In the SAME PLACES 100 years later.

This course is ideal for those who want to learn a little-known aspect of the great war, the intervention of the allies to defend the southern edge of the plateau, great barrier which contained the Imperial Army on the mountains people bulwark of the Veneto plain.

In November 1917, to parry the consequences of Caporetto, arrives in Italy the British expeditionary force B.E.F. (British Expeditionary Force Italy) in adding machine-guns, mortars, artillery, field and logistics. The British introduce new tactics: they precede the offensive with a night of war patrols.

This is to avoid the static trench warfare: it tended to be translated for men in a State of passiveness. There are many stories related to these departments: some speak of sports events to soften the tension of wartime, other of battles won thanks to Rum dropped into enemy hands. The last assault on the 29 October 1918 to the emplacement of Vezzena, so in the evening of 2 November the British tents at Osteria del Termine, former border with the Empire-Hungary.

We are local guides who operate on the territory of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni since 2008.  Membership to the site by members of the group ensures an intimate knowledge of the proposals and a deeply respectful approach towards the environment and its history. Our guides are mountain professionals acknowledgedi and enrolled in the province of Vicenza; they propose to accompany busloads of people hiking and tours around the area, as required by regional law No. 33 of 04/11/2002 and according to the laws of the professional bodies of which fan part.
