On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 9:00 p.m., at the Institute of Cimbrian Culture in Roana (Via Romeo Sartori, 21), the presentation of the book "On the Alps. A sentimental journey", with the participation of the author Daniele Zovi.
In this new work published by Raffaello Cortina Editore, Daniele Zovi – writer, popularizer, former commander of the Forestry Corps – takes us on an intimate and cognitive journey through the entire Alpine arc, from the Colle di Cadibona to the extreme eastern limit.
Walking, skiing or simply observing, the author tells of a mountain that is both living nature, history, memory and imagination.
Each stage is intertwined with historical episodes, literary references, symbolic encounters and cultural testimonies: Camillo Sbarbaro's herbariums, Hannibal's march, Goethe's light on Mont Blanc, Walser roots, but also the silence of the woods and works born from storm Vaia, such as Marco Martalar's sculptures.
The volume is enriched by the illustrations of the artist Piero Macola, who with his essential and evocative stroke accompanies and amplifies the narrative, adding visual depth to the author's sentimental journey .
A story that invites us to rediscover the natural and cultural heritage of the Alps, not as a static background, but as a lived place, to be protected and understood.
The evening is free admission.
