Reading of the works of Mario Rigoni Stern "The way home-Gaps and returns" by Isaac Tam-Rifugio Val Formica-Top Larches
Sunday, September 7 at 16 at the Refuge Val Ant to top of Larch, actor Isaac Tam reads the texts taken from the works of Mario Rigoni Stern. The narrative of thework will be accompanied by the accordion by Michele Lunardi.
Mario Rigoni Stern (Asiago, 1 November 1921 – Asiago, June 16, 2008) was a soldier and Italian writer. He enlisted as a volunteer in 1938 and participated in the Russian campaign, which radically marked his life. From this experience he is the opera "Sergeant della neve". Made prisoner by the Germans after the signing of the Armistice of Cassibile (September 8, 1943), was deported as IMI (Italian military internees) in a concentration camp in Hohenstein ( Olsztynektoday), in East Prussia, where he remains a prisoner refusing to get freedom in Exchange for enlisting in the armed forces of the Italian Social Republic. After the liberation of the camp during the advance of theRed Army into the heart of Germany, returned home on foot crossing the Alps, after two years of captivity, the May 5, 1945. Since that time, most did not want to leave theplateau of Asiago, where he continued to live in the House he built. From the 70 's onwards he dedicated himself fully to the writer. June 16, 2008 and died the next day, on his request he was buried under a simple fir wood cross, like many soldiers fallen on the plateau during the great war.
His onoreficienze include a war merit cross, a Knighthood Grand Cross of the order of merit of the Italian Republic, a badge of honor for the Patriots "volunteers of freedom" and a silver medal for military valour as a "shining example of heroic bravery, ability and contempt of danger".
