With this excursion we will go to the most famous and cold plain of Italy, the Piana di Marcesina. Here you can find two particular and extremely rare environments, which contribute to enrich and preserve the biodiversity of the entire Plateau: the two peat bogs, that of Palù di San Lorenzo and Palù di Sotto.
The particular microclimate of the Marcesina Plain has allowed the development of peat lands, where we find very unique plants such as Drosera rotundifolia , a carnivorous plant that draws from insects the substances necessary for its survival and the Andromeda polyfolia another swamp plant discovered for the first time right in this location.
The plain was inhabited since prehistoric times, as per on-site testimonies that we will not miss the opportunity to point you out.
We will have a packed lunch and we will also visit the church of San Lorenzo and the characteristic "Marcesina cases".
The route develops between mountain trails and dirt roads. The climb is less than 200 m, there are no particularly exposed sections.
