Asiago - Donation to the city of mario rigoni stern's private archive by the family of the great writer

In November 2020, the family of Mario Rigoni Stern,made a very important donationtothe City of Asiago: his wife Anna and children Alberico, Gianni and Ignatius, in fact, donated to the Municipality the entire private archive of the great writer from Altopian.

It will be kept and consulted in a room of the Civic Library of Asiago,where the documentation of the Regency of the 7 Municipalities has also been collected.

It is an invaluable donation including copious correspondence,including military mail from 1939 to 1945, as well as letters to friends, intellectuals and publishing houses, family and old Asiago photographs, notes, handwritten notebooks, articles written for the newspaper La Stampa, and even two unpublished stories and an attempt to rewrite the "Sergeantin the Snow".

The private archive of Mario Rigoni Stern had been declared of particular historical interest on June 14, 2017 by the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendence for Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige.

The presentation of the donation of Mario Rigoni Stern's archive to the City of Asiago took place in the form of a digital event on Monday, November 16, 2020 in the presence of the Mayor of Asiago, Roberto Rigoni Stern, president of the Veneto Regional Council, Roberto Ciambetti, of one of the writer's sons, Alberico Rigoni Stern, representing the Rigoni Stern family, the municipal councillor delegated to culture City of Asiago, Michela Rodeghiero, the director of the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendence of Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige, Eurosia Zuccolo, and archivist Ilaria Zacchilli.

The event was moderated by journalist Sergio Frigo, president of the "Mario Rigoni Stern Prize, for multilingual literature in the Alps".
