People ask me if the plants are smart. But if we look at the news, the images that come to us daily from Syria and from war zones, I wonder if human beings are intelligent.
When someone is very sick is said to be reduced to a vegetative state. As if the plant life was insignificant, unimportant. Nothing more wrong. Plants have a rich life complex, have sight, smell and feel.
Fall asleep in the evening and wake up in the morning. They have sex.
The trees are real complex beings, but when they are together in the Woods, that's where the most amazing things happen. Under our feet there is a network made up of mushroom roots linking all plants between them, is some kind of internet vegetable. This network allows trading of favors and information.
For example the most successful plants, larger ones, taking a lot of light, through this network, give part of the food at those plants, the smaller ones.
The smaller plants are those that are in shadow. Then they help in forms of solidarity. Not only that, the wood works best when it is rich in biodiversity, i.e. when consists of many different species, all right, just not only spruce beech does not fit. force of nature. More diversity means more strength.
