ORGANIZATION OF A MYCOLOGIST COURSE PURSUANT TO THE DECREE OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH 29 NOVEMBER 1996, N. 686.

The Municipal Administration of Roana, as part of the initiatives in the cultural sector, has received in recent weeks the authorization of the Veneto Region for the organization of this course, which is in Italy one of the very few highly professionalizing training realities in the mycological field (of mushrooms), also given the particularity of this scientific field.

The idea is that our territory lends itself to a similar initiative, given the availability of the product on site functional to the practical part of the course and the accessibility to the seminar venue for the easy connection to this mountain area.

The legislation provides for a rigorous selection of the accredited Training Body that can guarantee the quality of the initiative. After appropriate evaluations and careful selection, it is believed to have identified in these days the appropriately competent subject who will follow all the phases of the recruitment of teachers and the formation of the calendar, in addition to the secretarial tasks for which the definition of the agreements to kick off this important project is awaited.

The course is highly professionalizing and guarantees the obtaining of a "license" that will guarantee the owners to be able to carry out control, selection and certification of fungal species that are not exclusively marketable, thus training aspiring mycologists in a scientific field. Participation requires that the candidate has at least the upper secondary school diploma (baccalaureate).

The course, as per ministerial provisions, will last two years for about one month a year and for a total of 260 hours, of which 100 of theory and 160 of practice. General information on fungi, notions of cell organization biology, concepts of ecosystem and food chain, mushroom nutrition, parasitism and saprophytism; but theory and practice will also focus on the knowledge of the species of poisonous mushrooms and on the comparisons and possible confusions between edible and toxic species, on the role of the mycologist and on the collection, marketing and sale of mushrooms.

A very vast panorama, which will allow the participant to acquire a professionalism officially recognized by the Ministry of Health or even a knowledge for those who want to become, for personal ambition, a true expert in the mycological field.
