Start of works for the construction of the underground car park of Asiago

Found during the excavation material from the old town and the old train station, accumulated as a result of Asiago destruction during the war.

PRESS RELEASE of the MUNICIPALITY of ASIAGO of 17 JULY 2018

Statement by the Mayor of Asiago, Roberto Rigoni Stern, concerning the resumption of work on the construction of the underground car park in via Trento Trieste:

"We are looking forward to the acquisition of the nihil obstat by Arpav and health units for the resumption of work on the construction site for the construction of underground parking in Asiago which will happen shortly. It is a complex site that has intervened on a dump of material coming from the old town and the old train station following the destruction of Asiago during the war. 

In particular, during the first excavations were found part of the roof probably belonging to the old station of trains consisting of fibrous cement plates containing asbestos fibers. A product which at the time had a use almost exclusively State type. Part of this material insisted on the surface into space where there were the tall trees.
It is easily understandable that the maintenance of such a State is not tolerable chiefly because it is an area in the historic centre of Asiago which must necessarily be reclaimed and returned to the city in its environmental integrity.

The company won the tender has been tasked with reclaiming the soil to a specialized company that offers special machinery and specialized personnel in sifting the soil. The commencement ofreclamation activities will take place in record time considering the long bureaucratic procedures imposed by regional and national legislation which established the obligation to arrange this location with the ARPAV and the HEALTH AUTHORITY Foothills.

I thank the officials of these two organizations that have worked to accelerate as much as possible the launching of a highly complex procedure that we aim to finish before autumn jointly digging in order to give effect, without prejudice to more contingencies, the cast of the foundations of the new garage before winter.

S ono felt sorry for the inconvenience to merchants and residents, and I apologize for this, on the other hand, there was no evidence a similar situation despite multiple piston operated for the particular conformation of the material recovered and for its specific location. I believe, however, that its residents and traders of that via will find a sure benefit from this public work strategically to Asiago, which will have the same cars in the parking lot of the stadium, effectively doubling the capacity of vehicles at the entrance to the city and will give way to this artery, which is one of the most beautiful of Asiago, animated by the presence of a green space retrained and equipped, elegant and functional for families and children.
