Pizza is good for us, studies prove it!

Some Italian research has shown that eating one pizza a week is good for your health.

We at Magia - like most Italians - are deeply in love with pizza. We love its unmistakable taste, its heady fragrance, its Mediterranean colors. We love the fact that it is a traditional food, prepared with poor ingredients but rich in beneficial properties. And we love it because, yes, pizza is a food that is good for your health!

Studies prove it: pizza is good!

This is a scientific study that we like ... in fact, to show that a nice pizza a week, contrary to what is thought, can be eaten without remorse are the results emerged from several scientific studies conducted in Italy, which show that, if consumed with criteria, this typical Italian dish can prove to be an excellent ally of health!

According to the results published by the Mario Blacks Institute, in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, those who consume one pizza a week can in fact enjoy a reduction of about 30% in the risk of myocardial infarction . Not to mention the fact that, according to another study conducted in the same research institute, it would seem that in the Italian population the regular consumption of pizza can be traced back to a reduction in the development of tumors of the digestive system.

This protective effect against heart attack and tumors, according to the authors of the studies, should be sought in the fact that people accustomed to eating this food usually prefer, more generally, the Mediterranean diet which, as we know, greatly benefits health.

The beneficial properties of pizza

But why is pizza so good for your health? The secret lies in its ingredients, simple and genuine.
The most classic pizza, the margherita, is prepared with excellent foods, which give it unique nutritional properties:

  • Flour, used for kneading, is rich in complex carbohydrates, so it provides energy, protein, B vitamins, minerals and fiber. We at Magia, in particular, use Nobilgrano, a flour made from the best soft wheat and enriched with vital wheat germ, or with the noblest part and with high nutritional value of the grain;

  • Tomato is a powerful antioxidant and anticancer, rich in vitamins and mineral salts;

  • Mozzarella is a source of protein, vitamins, calcium and, therefore, helps the mineralization of bones;

  • Extra virgin olive oil provides vegetable fats and, together with them, the precious polyphenols, substances with antioxidant activity that have the property of counteracting free radicals;

These nutritional properties refer to the traditional pizza margherita, but there are also other "healthy" variants from a nutritional value point of view: surely among these there is the Neapolitan pizza, which also provides the nutrients contained in anchovies (especially omega 3), or pizzas that contain fresh or grilled vegetables, which add fiber and vitamins / minerals.
