One year after Storm Vaia: video in the woods of Campomulo and Melette di Gallio - Asiago Plateau

Environment and Nature
Boschi Campomulo Melette ad n anno da Vaia

Video of Giulio Danieli made in the woods of Campomulo and Melette di Gallio almost a year after the environmental catastrophe of Vaia

Almost a year has passed since the passage of Vaia, the storm that on 29 October 2018 devastated our Plateau, causing the destruction of thousands of hectares of forests and mountain habitats.

These shots, filmed on October 12, 2019,tell the current situation between the woods of Campomulo and the Melettes of Gallio,a touching video made with great sensitivity by the young video maker Giulio Danieli.

Images that speak of the devastation left by Storm Vaia, but which also want to be an important warning to all of us: Nature must be respected and to do so we need the constantcommitment of each of us.

This is the thought of Julius:
"I grew up spending most of my summer and winter holidays in the magnificent Asiago Plateau, and having always had a family apartment in Gallio I walked far and wide through those woods, I think I have always lived them with great joy and inspiration.

Almost a year after the destructive fury of the wind that literally wiped out acres of woodland and thousands of trees in the Vicentino, we returned to document and remember the beauty of those places that, despite the devastation suffered, maintain their historical value.

Nature will take decades to shine again as before, and it leaves a sense of important helplessness, which makes it clear that the only important thing to do in the immediate is to continue to visit these sites, to give its support to one of the places where thousands of souls rest from the great wars, souls of people who have sacrificed everything for the collective today.

Nature has given us and continues to give throughout the world every day, every month and every year an important lesson, the lesson that ALL of us must commit ourselves not to waste, not consume beyond what is necessary and pollute as little as possible, because unfortunately these tragedies are the result of the climate change that the hand of man has put in place, in which we are all more who are more than least accomplices.

I always like to look at the positive side of the tragedies as well, and this time maybe nature wanted to teach us: All together we can make a difference, and it's time to start doing it."

Thank you Giulio, from all the Asiago.it staff.
