Extraordinary 360° panorama from the highest peak of the Asiago Plateau - Video by Lorenzo Zanella
In this extraordinary video we can admire the spectacular 360 ° panorama visible from Cima XII,thanks to the aerial shots made on 29/08/2021 by our friend Lorenzo Zanella.
From the top the gaze can range managing to identify in addition to theAsiago Plateau also that of Folgaria, the Venetian Plain, the Val di Sella, the Valsugana, the Brenta Dolomites, the Lagorai, etc.
Cima XII (or Cima Dodici)is the highest peak of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni and of the whole province of Vicenza with its 2,336 meters of altitude and is located partly in Veneto and partly in Trentino.
A curiosity about the origin of the name of this mountain: the village of Borgo Valsugana,located precisely in Valsugana, in some periods of the year at 12 o'clock sees the sun disappear for a few minutes, eclipsed by a cone of shadow coming from the top of the mountain.
It is also known as Ferrozzo from the Italianization of the Cimbrian name, Freyjoch which derives from Frey-joch or "yoke of Frea",the Scandinavian deity to whom the name of the mountain had been dedicated.
Thehike to Cima XII is classified as medium-difficult as the last stretch of climb is challenging and the distance to be covered requires a minimum of training. You can find it HERE. It is one of the most classic excursions of the Plateau, interesting both for its height and for the particular historical-naturalistic importance:even these places, in fact, were affected by the war events of the First World War and bear evident signs.
In addition to this, thegeomorphological aspect sees the presence of karst phenomena.
