Press release of the Municipality of Roana of 04/07/2024
Hoga Zait, the traditional Cimbrian festival of the Municipality of Roana, also recognized by the Veneto Region as the only festival linked to the tradition and culture of the ancient Cimbrian people, is about to return from 12 to 21 July 2024.
"Hoga Zait" which literally means "Tempo alto-tempo bello" and therefore time for celebration, returns as every year during the two central weekends of July, from Friday 12 to Sunday 21 July 2024.
The event is now consolidated, in fact this year it reaches its 19^ edition, bringing many surprises and novelties in the six hamlets.
Each day is based on specific activities aimed at making known and discovering the Roano area in all its facets, enhancing naturalistic aspects - landscape, ancient uses and customs, traditions, history and food and wine.
Hoga Zait has always been a very heartfelt event in the Municipality of Roana, in fact it involves a large audience, made up of residents and tourists from different parts of the Veneto region.
The first weekend sees the hamlets of Canove (in the Bisele locality), Treschè Conca (Piazza Fondi) and Camporovere (Loc. Casa Tanzerloch) as protagonists.
The second , on the other hand, begins in Roana (Ist. Cimbrian Culture), followed by Mezzaselva (Baito Erio), Cesuna (town center and Park of Legends) and finally Roana (Piazza Santa Giustina).
The Councillor for Culture, Alessio Fabris says that: "Hoga Zait, which since 2006 has been organized by the Tourist Office of the Municipality of Roana, is renewed again this year with a proposal that includes excursions, shows, workshops and other activities, linked together by a common thread that is that of Cimbrian culture. By participating in these events, you have the opportunity to discover (or rediscover) our territory in its many aspects: nature, history, music and legends to name a few. A good example of how it is possible to combine tourism and culture."
There are many events, especially those not to be missed: the opening concert of the festival with Pierangelo Tamiozzo and Hotel Rif, the show "Filò de 'sti ani e formaio fresco" with the Filò company, the demonstration of the ancient craft of the cheesemaker, Cimbrian tales and educational workshop "On the traces of the past ... the cheese of the Cimbri" with Carlo Bressan, the musical reading with the Horn players, the "Cimbrian dinners", the cultural evening "A small evening for a small history of the Cimbri", the great fairytale show of the "Zelighen Baiblen", a magical adventure among small gnomes and restless fairies, mischievous sanguinelli and vain anguane, the historical re-enactment "Vita de sti ani", with the exhibition of rural tools and peasant life with the Lacharen and Rispaar groups and concerts with the "Inisglas Band" and "The Rumpled" groups.
The festival cannot miss the Schellaträgar, representatives of the six hamlets and bearers of the Schelle (bells), who ring them to welcome all participants in the festival.
To end with "Lustikh" and "Ramalòkh", the jesters and storytellers of the Queen of the Woods, who tell the adventures of various characters from Cimbrian legends.
Each activity proposed in the festival, as already mentioned above, is aimed at a specific age target: excursions, cultural evenings, typical Cimbrian dinners are dedicated to an adult audience, workshops and treasure hunts for children, theatrical performances for families.
All initiatives want to convey and teach something, so that all participants can eventually take home not only a beautiful memory, but something new from the experiences lived during Hoga Zait.
