With that of Sunday 21 July 2024 there are 54 editions of the Asiago International Art Philately Award.
As per tradition, the ceremony for the proclamation of the winning stamps is scheduled for 11:00 am in the Sala dei Quadi of the Town Hall (free admission, subject to availability).
The Oscar of philately, as the Asiago event has been called, differs from other more or less similar competitions, because the issuing countries are directly involved in the selection of the stamps to be awarded. It is they, in fact, who send the stamps that best represent them to the Plateau.
Among these, the judging panel chooses which ones deserve to be inscribed in the roll of honour of world philately.
First of all, the top stamp, the number one, and then the stamps that have best contributed to the spread of tourism and respect for the environment.
These stamps are then examined and chosen for the award ceremony by a special judging panel.
For Asiago, admitted Mayor Roberto Rigoni Stern, the Asiago International Prize represents an excellence that has been able to "enhance the values of philately in combination with art, highlighting the most relevant social, economic and environmental issues of our times".
In turn, Giovanni Luigi Fontana, president of the ancient and prestigious Olympic Academy of Vicenza, and as such of the Asiago Philately Prize, admits that by analyzing the stamps of the Asiago Prize he discovered that he was still attracted by the same figurative elements that interested him in his youth, as well as, of course, by the current messages incorporated in them.
Two Academies, the Olympic Academy and the Philately and Postal History Academy, have chosen Asiago to award the stamp with the greatest cultural content and the most innovative.

Inevitable and always highly appreciated is the presence of Poste Italiane with the souvenir cancellation designed by Roberta Barolo and depicting a hedgehog and those of the Republic of San Marino. In this case, the image is signed by Marco Matalar and represents the Dragon of Vaia, a wooden sculpture vandalized last year and recently rebuilt.
Organized by the Philatelic and Numismatic Club 7 Municipalities, from 13 to 21 July the headquarters of the Mountain Union hosts a philatelic exhibition (hours: 16-19, on Saturdays and Sundays also from 9.30 to 12.30). Admission is free.
