Event organized and co-financed in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Roana and the Pro Loco of Roana.

Get ready for an unforgettable hike that combines the beauty of alpine nature with a deep journey through history. A walk that will take you through lush fir and larch forests and expanses of mountain pine, habitat of different species of wildlife. We'll learn to recognize the signs of their presence, exploring paths less traveled.

Step by step, breathtaking views will open up ranging from the Venetian Lagoon to the majestic Swiss peaks. The destination is Cima Verena (2020 m), where we will visit the ruins of Fort Verena.

This place, on May 24, 1915, witnessed the first cannon shot that marked Italy's entry into the First World War against the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A touching visit so as not to forget the suffering of soldiers and mountain populations.

Your guide will take you on a fascinating journey, analyzing the landscape to reveal how the Great War profoundly transformed this territory and the lives of its people

📈DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty 4 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging)

The route is a loop and does not present any particular technical difficulties and develops between dirt roads and mountain paths. The uphill elevation gain is less than 550 m, there are partially exposed sections.

🎒TO BRING WITH YOU: mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, water for the duration of the excursion (at least 1 liter), a small snack such as dried fruit, PACKED LUNCH, any blanket to sit on. However, there will be free time near the Verena refuge to eat a sandwich or drink a coffee.
