On Saturday 24 August 2024, history and nature enthusiasts will have the opportunity to participate in a fascinating historical-naturalistic guided excursion, starting from Camporovere.

The event, entitled "The Interrupted Fort and the War Cemeteries, inside history" will offer participants a day immersed in the memories of the First World War, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Asiago Plateau.

The start of the walk is scheduled for 9:00 am (duration about 6 hours).

You will reach Forte Interrotto which dominates the top of the mountain of the same name, at 1,392 meters above sea level. Built in 1887, the fort resembles a medieval castle due to its mighty stone and brick walls. Initially conceived as a barracks for the "Bassano" Alpine Battalion, during the Great War the fort was occupied by the Austro-Hungarian army and transformed into a strategic observation point. Today, thanks to various restoration interventions, the Interrupted Fort is part of the Ecomuseum of the Great War of the Vicenza Prealps. 

After the visit to the fort, the excursion will continue to the Austrian Cemeteries of Mosciagh, a touching testimony of the war events, with burials scattered among mountains, meadows and woods. The cemeteries are part of the Walk of Peace, a 68 km long itinerary that retraces the key places of the First World War, inviting reflection on peace and the tragic events of the conflict. 

It is recommended to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for mountain walks and bring water and a snack with you.
