THE BOOK
The synopsis of the volume reads as follows: "From the Veneto of the sixties to widespread well-being, from the comparison with the television imaginary to the advent of mass consumption, from the false myth of an uncontaminated environment to wars whose atrocities arrive live on our screens, it is measured with thorny issues and prejudices. It draws indications and ideas to define what still remains to be done on issues that, today more than ever, concern us all closely: ecological conversion, migration, universal rights, effective equality and not only enunciated, the new forms of poverty, the relationship with young people, the true engine of rebirth, up to the goal of responsible autonomy".
The book tells, with the sincerity and frankness typical of its author, through his memories, the momentum of a country in which "the strength to look to the future with optimism, even in the worst moments, has never been lacking. Never broke that gear that, from generation to generation, has transmitted to us the desire to respond to any change, even the most unexpected, committing ourselves to build something new. To evaluate together the premises and consequences of the choices we face, it retraces some symbolic thresholds that in collective and individual history have marked as many decisive turning points for the growth of Italy.
With the concreteness of the administrator and beyond any ideological barrier, Luca Zaia shows that, if changes inevitably confront unknown problems, we must also know how to seize the extraordinary opportunities. In the testimony of those who do not stop believing in the future, an invitation to exercise freedom of choice, not giving in to pessimism, "the last attitude that our community needs in the face of the challenges that await it and that are just as hard as those in which it is already engaged".
