MARIO VIELMO

Born in Lonigo (VI) Italian mountaineer and director. In August 2021 he climbed twelve eight-thousanders, ten of which without the use of oxygen. On May 24, 2006 he reached the summit of Makalu (8,463 m above sea level), his seventh eight-thousander, where he carried, throughout the trek to the summit, the torch of the 2006 Winter Olympics, bearing a message of peace from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, addressed to all humanity. From that experience began an ambitious solidarity project aimed at Tibetan refugee children .
