Destination: the mule tracks of Monte Cengio
Monte Cengio, with its perched mule track, tunnels and the legendary Salto del Granatiere, is one of the most evocative routes in the Italian mountains.
What to expect:
- You will discover the fortifications built by the Italian army during the First World War. You will walk along the mule track, carved into the rock and cross the tunnels that offer exciting views of the Valdastico below.
- An immersion in nature: Monte Cengio is a real paradise for nature lovers. Among the limestone rocks and beech woods you can admire wonderful spring blooms.
- Stories of soldiers and bloody battles so as not to forget and fully savor the sense of peace that the mountain can give today.

📈DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty 3 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging).
The route does not present particular technical difficulties, it is characterized by the presence of mountain paths, mule tracks, tunnels and some stretches of asphalt road, rarely trafficked. The mule track is located overlooking the Valdastico, the path is secured by the presence of handrails, but it is still exposed. The uphill elevation gain is less than 320 m.
🎒TO TAKE WITH YOU: waterproof mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, backpack with water for the duration of the excursion, a small snack such as dried fruit, hat and gloves depending on the temperature, head torch possibly with a fixed red light.
There may be water inside the tunnels if it rains in the previous days.
🫰COST: €15 for the guided excursion per person, €10 for children under 15 and season ticket holders.
Participants will be offered a taste of local products.

We start on foot from the meeting place.
