On Friday, August 30th , the Biosphaera Guides organize a historical excursion on Mount Ortigara, to discover some facts and protagonists of the Great War in the Plateau.
The meeting will be at 8.30 a.m. at the parking lot of Piazzale Lozze, where the cars will be left and from where the walk will start.
Diving into the first wooded section, you reach the Lozze Church, with its chapel containing bones and finds, in the surroundings of which it is possible to visit tunnels and trenches dug into the rock; from the top of Mount Lozze, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the battlefields.
We then proceed along the Vallone dell'Agnelizza, the site of some of the bloodiest clashes, to climb to the top of Mount Ortigara, with its famous Severed Column, after passing through the Austrian Memorial Stone.
You will then descend towards Mount Campigoletti, where there is an important Austro-Hungarian cemetery, and then retrace your steps until you enter Val Agnella, which, among unspoiled natural environments and signs of the First World War, will allow you to reach Piazzale Lozze again.
The excursion will be led by an Environmental, Hiking and Historical Guide.
