As part of the usual mini-literary review "Writers at Fort Corbin", Dal Molin and Aluisini present their latest work: "The Captain - Emilio Lussu: the Karst, the Plateau and the Piave that has never told", published by Itinera editions, with 350 historical photographs.
The event will be held on Saturday 24 August 2024, from 17:00, at Fort Corbin, Tresché Conca.
Through the testimonies of those who shared the glories and miseries of war with Captain Emilio Lussu , this book reconstructs an almost unknown image of the Sardinian writer and his Sassari Brigade . The author, in fact, due to the political climate of the time, could not fully narrate all his experience in his famous "A year on the Plateau".
"The Captain" retraces, also through the use of images, all the battlefields that saw Lussu as a protagonist, from the Karst to the Plateau, from Bainsizza to Caporetto, from the "Three Mountains" to the Piave. An engaging historical journey, which allows you to rediscover characters and events that the Sardinian author himself had only outlined at the time.
Lussu was destined to become a true iconic figure in the history of Italy: a highly decorated officer in the Great War, a hero of the Resistance, a member of the Constituent Assembly and Minister of the Republic. A man determined never and under no circumstances, on the battlefield as in politics, to give up what his heart and conscience dictated to him, as well as to that code of honor that made him the eternal "Captain" revealed by these pages.
