Presentazione libro di Luigina Badiale a Gallio

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 8:45 p.m., at the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Gallio, there will be the presentation of the book "Lina, rebel by nature" by Luigina Badiale (LiberEtà Editions), an intense biography dedicated to an extraordinary and little-known female figure: Lina Badiale, a woman outside the box, capable of challenging the conventions of her time with radical and courageous choices.

Written by the protagonist's granddaughter, the book tells the story of Lina's life, lived between Cavarzere and the Venetian countryside, starting from the early decades of the twentieth century.

Lina is a young woman determined to live according to her conscience, defying social taboos when she chooses to become a single mother in order not to accept a loveless marriage. From there begins a human and political journey increasingly rich in meaning.

A communist militant, in the years between 1946 and 1949, Lina distinguished herself as a leader of the people, actively participating in the struggles of the farm workers in the Polesine: a period marked by prolonged strikes, employers' repression and heated demands by agricultural workers for fairer living and working conditions. In this context, she led mass demonstrations, strongly supported the demands of the farm workers and was a point of reference for many women involved in the protest.

Also in those years, Lina was also at the head of a memorable protest of peasant women, who for forty days faced the bosses and the police, in a courageous battle for social justice and the dignity of agricultural work.

His is a story of solidarity with the weakest, of political and civil commitment, and of deep roots in his own land.

The book gives the reader back the memory of a strong and free figure, a symbol of women's emancipation and the battles for social rights in Veneto, in an era marked by wars, poverty and profound changes.

Free admission subject to availability.
