Friday, March 31, 2023, the Pro Loco of Cesuna is waiting for you to celebrate all together SCHELLA MARZO.
The program includes the meeting of the participants at 20:00 in the square in front of the parish church, followed by the parade through the streets of the village to PalaCiclamino (former station square).
Here the "vecio" will be burned and you can warm up with hot chocolate and brulè.
TRADITION: Schella Marzo is a Cimbrian expression that means "sounds March".
It is a ritual to awaken nature after the long sleep of winter, giving a noisy and cheerful greeting to the arrival of the spring season.
Boys, children and adults run around with "snatare, bandoti and pignate" through the streets of the hamlet of Roana, and at the end a puppet ("el Vecio Inverno") is set on fire, to symbolize the old season that vanishes.
This anniversary, recognized throughout the plateau, in Cesuna is celebrated at the end of March, a few weeks later than in other places: here, in fact, the sun, blocked by the hills surrounding the village, can not immediately melt frost and snow that, lingering longer, postpone the awakening of spring.
