Destination: Cima Vezzena - Alpe Cimbra
This guided excursion leads us to Spitz Verle (1908 m), nicknamed "the Eye of the Plateaus" for its strategic position overlooking the Asiago Plateau Seven Municipalities and overlooking the lakes of Levico and Caldonazzo.
The Austro-Hungarian fort, built between 1910 and 1914, was part of the defensive system that also included Fort Busa Verle, another fortification that we meet near the Vezzena Pass and which hosted the writer of "Stages of the Defeat", the Austrian artillery lieutenant Fritz Weber.
Step by step through the fir woods and the pre-alpine pastures, rich in colors and intoxicating scents, we reach Cima Vezzena (1908 m a.s.l.), also called Pizzo di Levico. On its summit is the Vezzena Fort, another important Austro-Hungarian fortification. From the top, the view sweeps over the lakes of Levico and Caldonazzo, and on clear days, up to the Brenta Dolomites.
A Sunday in the mountains not to forget and relive the conflict through the eyes of those who lived in these border areas, with their lives divided between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy.
An excursion that combines the beauty of the landscape with reflection on history, 110 years after an event that has profoundly marked these lands.
There will be a moment of relaxation at the summit to have a packed lunch surrounded by a wonderful panorama.

📈DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty 4 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging)
The route is a ring and develops between mountain paths and dirt roads. The Fort is exposed, as always BEFORE leaving, I signal to the guide any problems of vertigo. The uphill elevation gain is less than 600 m.
🎒TO BRING ALONG: mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, backpack with water for the duration of the excursion, a small snack such as dried fruit, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, any towel to sit on, PACKED LUNCH.
🫰COST: €25 for the guided excursion per person, €10 for children under 15 and season ticket holders.
Participants will be offered a taste of local products.
