Saturday 2 December 2023 from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm
DESTINATION: Cima Ekar - Asiago Plateau and Seven Municipalities (VI)
Step by step we cross gentle slopes that in summer are dedicated to grazing, framed by fragrant beech and fir woods to reach the ridge of Cima Ekar.
This is the place that in the 70s was chosen to host the Cima Ekar observation station consisting of two domes, the Copernicus reflector and two Schmidt telescopes.
Several scientific discoveries have been made here thanks to the scarce light pollution present in the skies of the Asiago mountains.
The right place to stop and observe the celestial vault and be enchanted by the scientific tales, anecdotes and mythological curiosities that the naturalistic guide, passionate amateur astronomer, will make you discover!
Reservations are mandatory.
DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty of 3 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging)
The route is a loop and does not present any particular technical difficulties. It develops between mountain paths and dirt roads. The difference in height is less than 300 m, there are no exposed sections.
The route may be subject to variations due to the presence of ice/snow but the difficulty will remain unchanged
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU: mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, water or hot tea for the duration of the excursion, a small snack such as dried fruit, hat, gloves, headlamp possibly with a steady red light.
COST: €15 for the guided excursion per person, €10 for children under 15 and season ticket holders.
