Route excursion Le Contrade di Conco - Asiago Plateau

HOW TO GET TO THE STARTING POINT OF THE ROUTE

The route starts from the center of Fontanelle,a hamlet of conco Municipality, easily accessible from Asiago following the directions to Conco/Bassano. When you arrive near the centre, you can park your car in the square or in the adjacent areas.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

From the center of Fontanelle we continue, in an easterly direction, on a short stretch of paved road along Avenue of Remembrance,then taking the path that, on the left, leads into the Schiani contrada. Crossing the group of houses, immediately you can see the architectural characteristics typical of all these small districts, based, for climatic and economic needs, on the grouping of housing units and on the massive use of limestone particularly abundant in these areas.

Continuing the path, slightly uphill, you arrive in contrada Pizzati,a graceful group of ancient houses, characterized by a promiscuous courtyard,traditional fruit trees and the inevitable stone well once used by the entire contrada for water supply.

WITHIN CONCO CONTRADE

Leaving the group of houses, after walking a few meters, you keep the left and continue towards contrada Frighi. Observing these few houses, the silence and nature almost uncontrolled convey a feeling of tranquility, a feeling that is felt in all these small inhabited districts now only a few days a year and that goes to screech with the vitality that characterized them in other times.
We continue on a dirt road in a forest of maples, ash trees and hazelnuts until we reach, after a slight stretch of ascent, near Mount Zanchi.

Contrà Bielli Conco

The environment changes radically: the forest, in fact, thins out and leaves the space to a pasture with here and there bushes of rosehip, elderberry and plum.
Continuing along the ridge in a west direction you can feel the feeling of walking in avegetable of natural kneedness,in fact, to the south extends the Venetian plain. The view from this location will be widely enjoyed by the hiker and, on clear days, you will be able to see very distinctly from the districts of the Asiago Plateau the Venetian lagoon.
We then reach the bielli contrada and continue to the west you take a white road, and crossed contrada Ucchese, in a few kilometers you return again to the center of Fontanelle.
