The Municipality of Roana on the occasion of the "International Day against violence against women", which occurs on November 25, 2022, proposes two initiatives in support of the theme; During the morning a preparatory meeting will be proposed to the third classes of middle schools while in the late afternoon a torchlight procession will be set up to sensitize citizens to a fundamental and extremely topical theme.
Deputy Mayor Christian Vellar underlines the importance of this day by stating that "Unfortunately, violence against women is a cancer that is difficult to eradicate, a burden that we inherit since ancient times and that emerges silently even within the home when ignorance awakens; when the cowardly want to hide their weakness with abuse and prevarication."
The Councillor for Culture Giulia Mosele also expressed herself on this issue, declaring that "violence against women unfortunately nowadays is a problem that is always and constantly still too widespread in the world. The negative effects in the short and long term affect the physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health of the victim, leading to a series of consequences: isolation, inability to work, limited ability to take care of themselves and their children. Children who witness scenes of violence within families may suffer from emotional and behavioral disorders. Therefore, non-violence against women must be taught from an early age to their children, both male and female."
For this last reason it was decided this year to organize the day of November 25 involving the younger generations to make them aware of the theme. The planned program is divided as follows:
The morning for students of the third classes of the middle schools of Cesuna and Mezzaselva will be organized thanks to the support of the instructors of the Scledum Self Defense school of Schio (VI), composed of a group of athletes specialized in martial arts, who offer courses in self-defense and anti-violence. The demonstration of about 3 hours will take place at the Canove building and provides a first approach to self-defense with simulated situations, which can really happen.
In the late afternoon all citizens are invited to participate in the torchlight procession wanted by the Municipal Administration of Roana. The meeting is scheduled for 18:00 in the parking lot in front of the Municipal Swimming Pool of Roana, with the delivery of torches and the greeting of the Municipal Administration; then follow the procession that will reach the Palazzetto di Canove, to end with readings, thoughts and messages of the pupils of the Primary and Secondary Schools of the Municipality of Roana. To say loudly NO to violence against women, NO to ignorance and indifference.
