Proposals to admire the spectacle of the 27 July 2018 Lunar Eclipse on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni
Friday 27 July 2018 will occur as thelongest Lunar Eclipse of the century: a unique show, which will keep fans and curious with the upturned nose totaling well 103 minutes.
The Moon, near theApogee (or the maximum distance from the Earth), will be in alignment with the Sun and the Earth: the Earth's shadow will go to completely darken the satellite, giving rise to phenomenon oftotal eclipse of the Moon.
Initially, from 19:14 in Italy, thedimming will be partial (twilight);
from 20:24, instead, the Moon enters the umbra of the Earth and, from 21.30, will begin theTotal Eclipse, with utmost darkness at 22:22.
The phenomenon oftotal eclipse will end at 23:13, then from 00:19, the moon will be darkened again (partial eclipse) until 01:28.
To make the event even more impressive during theEclipse the Moon becomes tinged Redcolor, due to the filtered sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere that will be reflected on the lunar surface, giving rise to the phenomenon the so-called Moon of blood (Blood Moon).
A really exciting phenomenon, which can be seen in the splendid setting of theAltopiano di Asiago (weather permitting), wherelight pollution is reduced and, in the evenings of fine weather, the sky appears as a covered with velvet studded with bright stars.
TheAltopiano dei Sette Comuni (in Veneto) is therefore the perfect place to see thelongest Lunar Eclipse of the century, perhaps by participating in one of several themed events organized for the occasion.
