Back to Roana the "CUCUFESTIVAL" international event dedicated to Street Theater now in its twelfth edition
From Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 August, the squares and streets of Roana, Mezzaselva, Cesuna, Canove, Treschè Conca, Camporovere, will be transformed into a stage to host artists from all over the world who will enchant citizens and tourists with mime shows, theater, acrobatics, clowning, juggling and music.
Back again this year in the municipality of Roana and its picturesque hamlets the "CUCUFESTIVAL", an international event dedicated to street theater, promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Roana and organized by the Cultural Association Arci Carichi Sospesi with the collaboration of the Proloco of the six hamlets that make up this extraordinary territory located on the Asiago plateau (Vicenza), inhabited since the Middle Ages by peoples of Cimbrian ethnicity.

"As a Municipal Administration we can only be excited to promote the "CUCUFESTIVAL" – says Giulia Mosele, Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Roana-. A flagship event of the Roanese summer, reached this year the important milestone of the XII Edition, able to attract over ten thousand spectators a year to our territory. This year we wanted to concentrate the main events in the squares of the hamlets that make up our municipality, so that we could also give a new breath to all those economic activities that in these two years have been penalized by the pandemic. For similar reasons, we wanted the event to take place again this year towards the end of August, a period at the limits of our usual tourist season, to encourage those who are already guests with us to stay a few more days and invite you to discover the beauties of the territory that surrounds us in the different light of the approach of autumn. We are sure that our guests and the citizens themselves will be enchanted by the shows and artists who will perform with us».
"An event like the "CucuFestival" fits perfectly into the tourist-cultural program that the Municipality of Roana wanted to organize to attract all audiences to the Plateau. - underlines the Municipal Councilor Cesare Azzolini - "Hoga Zait", the festival of Cimbrian culture, has allowed us to attract a target composed mainly of families and members of other minorities Cimbrian languages and also this year it was a great success. "Golds of sport", the new event created by our administration that takes place in the first days of August, will bring a more adult audience interested in sports activities and to know the athletes who, in this first edition, will be more than thirty. The International Street Theatre Festival will attract adults and children back to Roana and the hamlets to admire the performances by international entertainment professionals. Finally, "Vèrben" is expected for October, designed to enhance the colors of the plateau, food and wine and agricultural products».
Of great level also this year the artistic proposal. From Ukraine will arrive on the plateau the Dekru, award-winning quartet of mimes, who will perform in "Anime Leggere",a journey full of laughter in the comedy of life, between poetry and social satire, written and directed by the director Liubov Cherepakhina, teacher of the renowned Academy of Variety and Circus Arts in Kiev. From Spain, the Cia Es, with the show "Tei Tei", will make the public discover how a white ribbon can become an instrument of discovery of a path to be inhabited and transformed through the imagination of abstraction. Every corner, every wall, every street lamp, every traffic light, every individual, become possible supports and foundation to create unique moments. A life, a painting, limits, some chosen, others imposed, will be at the center of the performance of acrobatics and music of the company French La Double acCroche, who with "A Travers ..." will lead us, in a path between the lines, in search of a space of freedom. The Italian-Argentine duo of the ZeC Company, with the work in progress "Seguime", will make us travel in search of more simplicity, more listening to the world around us, and more discernment to contemplate the beauty of nature.
The presence of artists from Italy is also rich. Selvaggia Mezzapesa with "Cuore Matto" will take the audience to experience the different phases of love between acrobatics and dexterity in the air. The "Equilibria" will be the leitmotif of the Acqualta Teatro show: the indissoluble bond between man and Nature, a delicate and precarious bond that keeps us close. We need a perfect balance, a give and take, a balance made of respect and harmony. Disciplines and juggling tools forgotten over time will be at the center of "Evergreen" by the Turinese Ali Akbar Rahati Nover, world champion of flowerstick, a classic juggling tool imported from China about 200 years ago. An exhilarating performance with a vague hint of mint, since "being broke has never been so much fun". Finally, you can not miss the clown of Giulio Lanzafame of the OnArts Company that in "Yes Land" combines acrobatics, juggling, soft rope, balancing and manipulation of simple objects: a chair, a bottle of water, oranges and a newspaper.
