Asiago, with its territory to be discovered, will be part of soft tourism project "Fotourist". The project idea presented in mid-2016 has received positive opinion and will be financed by the cross-border cooperation programme Interreg between Italy and Austria.
"Fotourist", applied to the lesser-known alpine resorts to the masses, aims to promote a kind of emotional and thematic tourism, exploitation of upland infrastructure; tourism that goes hand in hand withenvironmental education, care and conservation of nature. The project aims to increase tourist flows and to diversify the types of users who access the areas identified. The municipality of Asiago, together with the province of Belluno and the Tyrol, then, well fits into this new format that provides for the enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage for Alpine tourism and sustainable initiatives open air sports.
The project area Italy-Austria, in fact, is characterized by a unique Alpine natural diversity and particularly sensitive to climate change in both summer and winter. In this sense "Fotourist" aims to strengthen the commitment of operators in the territory and tourism, to give them a role of responsibility in the protection and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage. Specifically the municipality of Asiago is beneficiary of a non-repayable contribution of 187,000 euros to carry out project activities; the 85 percent comes from Interreg Italy-Austria, while the remaining 15 percent since national Revolving Fund.
«The goal, as for Asiago, is on one side to encourage the preservation of land and its use soft, the other to increase the presence of Italian and foreign tourists to the plateau -are the words of municipal sport, Franco Saddle-. With "Fotourist" will stick a CO2-free tourism by catching the interest of a growing share of visitors who show interest in ways to use outdoor activities» mountain. And if the project aims to increase the number of arrivals in three selected areas (through actions for the promotion of cross-border assets of thematic itineraries dedicated to sports and other outdoor activities), followed by initiatives that Asiago, Belluno and Tyrol must implement for a successful "Fotourist". «Will be promoted interventions to improve access to selected areas and will be a coordinated image that captures the attention of emerging markets-Saddle-. Actions will be implemented with a low environmental impact which may at the same time educate the local actors and the tourists themselves to protect and conserve the territory in which they operate or who are visiting. "
It also involved the operators dominating the race, so accommodation, restaurants-shelters-huts-agriturismi and guide associations in order to create a product club linked to soft tourism practices. Between actions financed by the project are also implementing sites and apps, participation in trade shows, organizing events and educational tours with journalists and tour operators.
